Numerosity
The numbers discussion has exploded just about everywhere right now, and the Chicago Review has posted the articles online which have sparked the recent debates. The articles can be found here. Here's what's posted: After reading the numerous responses to Juliana Spahr & Stephanie Young's "Numbers Trouble," Jennifer Ashton's response, and our note, it became clear that we should make these articles available online. We hope these essays will ground a larger exchange of ideas. Follow the links below for PDFs: “Numbers Trouble” by Juliana Spahr and Stephanie Young “The Numbers Trouble with ‘Numbers Trouble’” by Jennifer Ashton “Poetry Magazines & Women Poets” by Joshua Kotin and Robert P. Baird Our initial reluctance to post these articles online was only due to the magazine's financial insecurity: we rely on issue sales for 80% of our $50,000 annual budget. Therefore we hope that you'll consider ordering the issue or subscribing to CR. The magazine's survival depends on support from its readers. Follow the discussion of the articles at the Poetry Foundation's Harriet blog, with posts by Ange Mlinko, A.E. Stallings, and Emily Warn (click here for Warn's introduction). Discussion continues at several other blogs: Stephanie Young at The Well-Nourished Moon. Simon DeDeo at rhubarb is susan, K. Lorraine Graham at Spooks by Me, Dale Smith at Possum Ego, Elisa Gabbert at the Ploughshares blog, Shanna Compton at shannacompton.com, and Jeannine Hall Gailey at webbish6.com.
